Personal Counselling for Children, Adolescents & Young People

As well as working extensively with children and young people through our School Counselling Services, Snowford Grange also work with children of all ages on an individual and private basis.

We believe strongly in putting the child at the centre of the process, which means we listen and interact with them in a non-directive manner that is developmentally appropriate, accepting, and supportive.

With younger children we employ a range of resources and play therapies to help them communicate and explore their thoughts and emotions. As children become older the therapy becomes more talk-based.

Issues we commonly address when counselling children and young people include:

  • Changes to family structure
  • Loss and bereavement
  • Friendship issues
  • Bullying
  • Low self esteem
  • Low self confidence
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger management
  • Self harm
  • Attachment issues
  • School-based issues

The counsellor was able to offer some techniques to help our son to manage what he was feeling, and to equip him with some ways to build his own resilience to situations he was finding upsetting.
