Lillington Nursery and Primary School

"We have bought in counselling for our pupils at Lillington Nursery and Primary School for a number of years and this has had a major impact on many of our children. The children have learned how to cope better with their issues and this has made therm happier in school and more ready to learn. The pupils very much look forward to their sessions. Feedback from parents has been overwhelmingly positive.

More recently, we have used Snowford Grange to support our members of staff. All members of staff who work on a 1-1 basis with children, or in more challenging situations, have been able to access supervision sessions. The feedback from staff has been extremely positive. Staff have reported that is great to have someone to talk to who will listen while they off load, but will also offer really valuable strategies. 'Steve is able to make sense of how you are feeling and the challanges you face. You can go in feeling over-whelmed but come out feeling 'you can' giving me the tools and the words I can use.

All staff are also able to access counselling sessions if they feel the need. Often this can be due to stresses in life and the ever present work-life balance we all feel in school. Staff have found these sessions 'massive'. 'It has had a unbelievable impact.' I still get stressed but now I feel that I can manage it. I think 'What would Steve say?

We will certainly be continuing, and are in fact increasing, our use of Snowford Grange for both our pupils and staff."

"I have been working with Stephen for just over two years and really look forward to my sessions with him.  I have found his guidance and wisdom extremely beneficial in both my personal and professional life - for me the sessions are a form of "mind gym" which really help me work through more challenging aspects of my life.

After each session, I always emerge with clarity of thought and a sense of reinforced inner strength which helps me make informed decisions and maintain the courage of my convictions, even at particularly tricky times.  There is no doubt that my time with Stephen has helped me develop as an individual in every aspect of my life.  I would strongly recommend Stephen Goodrem and Snowford Grange."

"Snowford Grange has supported a number of our schools for over eight years. They have provided training to staff on how to support the emotional well-being of children as well as offering an in-school pupil counselling service.

The trainers are very highly regarded and course content was appreciated for being child specific with both theory and practical aspects covered. We are in the process of commissioning several more training sessions from Snowford Grange and highly recommend their services."

"Having met with a few counsellors before talking with Helen, I can truly say that it was refreshing to meet someone who listened and had genuine care for what I was feeling and going through.

Helen helped me understand that things were not my fault and gave me the tools and compassion to cope going forward."

"Our workforce has grown significantly over recent years and we’ve seen an increase in staff and managers accessing our existing EAP provision.

We approached Snowford Grange because we identified the need to provide a more personal, face-to-face counselling service for staff experiencing challenges impacting on their worklife.  We were looking for an organisation we could work with in a three-way partnership – employee, counsellor and employer.

We recognised the value in working with counsellors who understand our organisation and are aware of the context in which our employees work, who could then use these insights to shape the support they provide. In turn, feedback from the counselling sessions (agreed in advance with the individual) ensures that as an organisation we respond in the most effective way.

HR and line managers appreciate being able to refer employees for a speedy intervention knowing we are accessing a high quality, professional service aimed at keeping the employee at work or supporting them to return to work in a timely manner. We’ve seen a reduction in our sickness absence rates as a result.

Feedback from staff accessing the service has been extremely positive. Steve and Helen build trusting relationships enabling them to ask challenging questions and arrive at workable solutions.

In several cases, staff have attributed the help they received from Snowford as the main reason they have been able to continue to function effectively at work whilst going through a particularly difficult time.

I would recommend the services of Snowford Grange to other organisations looking to offer a cost effective, results driven counselling service but wanting to stay informed and involved in the support provided.

Helen was able to offer some techniques to help our son to manage what he was feeling, and to equip him with some ways to build his own resilience to situations he was finding upsetting.

The conversations were about what was going on for our son but also about what we felt as we navigated this worrying time. I really benefited from this support too.

I see Helen as a brilliant addition to our parenting resources and will not hesitate to call on her again in the future.
