About Snowford Grange
Experienced counselling support for schools and private clients.
Who we are
Snowford Grange was established in 2010. Following work evaluating a secondary school counselling service, Steve Goodrem began discussions with the local authority about piloting early-intervention counselling in schools.
The aim was straightforward: support children’s emotional and psychological needs early in their development. That pilot became the foundation of Snowford Grange, and early support remains central to our work today.
We now work with 60+ primary, secondary, SEND and alternative provision schools, delivering more than 15,000 counselling hours each year. Our services include pupil counselling, reflective supervision, mental health check-ins and staff counselling.
Alongside our school partnerships, we offer private counselling for adults, young people and children.
How we work
A dedicated counsellor works in your school each week, becoming a familiar presence for pupils and staff. Consistent relationships give pupils time to build trust and make it easier to offer support early.
We work flexibly and collaboratively with your pastoral, SEND, inclusion and safeguarding teams, building on the systems and support already in place. Our counsellors bring therapeutic understanding to this shared work, helping schools recognise emotional needs and strengthen support for pupils who face barriers to inclusion. Individual counselling remains confidential, within safeguarding and professional boundaries.
Provision is shaped around each school’s needs. We agree the timetable, referral arrangements and priorities with you, and review these as needs change. Staff support can be included through reflective supervision, mental health check-ins and counselling.
Snowford Grange manages practitioner recruitment, professional supervision and service oversight. We stay in contact with school leaders, address concerns and carefully manage any change of counsellor to support continuity.

Safeguarding & Safer Recruitment
Safeguarding is central to our work with children and young people. Our safer recruitment arrangements follow Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance, including the appropriate qualification, reference and safeguarding checks for each practitioner’s role.
Snowford Grange manages practitioner recruitment, professional supervision, insurance and service oversight, working within each school’s safeguarding arrangements.
Our counsellors understand the boundaries of confidentiality and their responsibility to raise safeguarding concerns, working with the school’s designated safeguarding lead when concerns arise.

Our Team
Steve Goodrem
Founder & DirectorSteve has almost 20 years of clinical experience across school, private practice and workplace settings. He trained at Warwick University, is a member of the BACP and is a fully qualified clinical supervisor. He serves as an industry advisor to counselling degree and MSc programmes, helping to shape how the next generation of practitioners are trained.
He founded Snowford Grange in 2010 and has built it into an award-winning service trusted by 60+ schools, working personally and closely with headteachers, DSLs and safeguarding leads across all the schools he works with. He takes personal responsibility for the quality, governance and professional management of every school partnership, and continues to work directly with pupils and clients alongside leading the organisation.
Katie Gane
School Relationship & Development LeadKatie has spent many years in primary education, the last eight as a headteacher, before joining Snowford Grange. In this role, she will continue to network and build relationships with schools, helping to shape Snowford Grange’s services, ensuring they meet the needs of pupils, staff and the wider school community.
Having led a school through today’s educational pressures, Katie understands why this work matters more than ever. Mental health needs don’t always present clearly; they can show up through attendance, behaviour, SEND and safeguarding concerns. Early, joined-up support is essential to helping every child succeed. Inclusion was central to her leadership as a head, and she is equally passionate about staff wellbeing, believing that sustaining inclusion depends on supporting the people delivering it, not just the children receiving it.
