About Snowford Grange

A consistent, preventative partner for schools.

Who We Are.

Snowford Grange was founded in 2010 by Steve Goodrem. While evaluating a counselling service for a secondary school, Steve began discussions with the local authority about piloting an early intervention counselling service in primary schools. The aim was straightforward: to meet the emotional and psychological needs of children as early as possible in their development. That pilot became the foundation of Snowford Grange, and that ethos remains at the heart of everything the service does today.

Fifteen years on, that commitment has grown into a service trusted by 60+ primary, secondary, SEND and alternative provision schools, delivering more than 15,000 counselling hours each year. Snowford Grange has a team of 40+ qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, and maintains strong affiliations and working relationships with a number of training establishments, keeping our practice at the forefront of the profession.

How we work.

We operate as an embedded partner, not a referral service. A dedicated counsellor, known to staff and pupils, is placed within your school each week. This consistency is at the heart of what we do: it builds trust with young people, integrates naturally into pastoral and SEND structures, and enables genuinely preventative work before difficulties escalate.

We recognise that every school is different. Priorities vary, structures differ and needs change over time. Our model is designed to be flexible, shaping provision around each school’s individual context while maintaining the professional standards that underpin everything we do.

The counsellors we recruit are not only highly qualified, they are passionate about working with children and young people, and they understand the importance of working within a school’s systems and alongside its team. They become an important part of how the school functions, a trusted presence within the wider pastoral and inclusion structure.

The safety and welfare of children and young people is the foundation of everything we do. All Snowford Grange counsellors are recruited in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines. We manage all professional requirements on behalf of the schools we work with, so that leaders have complete confidence in the service and none of the operational burden.

Our Team.

Founder & Director

Steve Goodrem

Steve is one of the most experienced school counselling practitioners in the country, with almost 20 years of clinical experience across school, private practice and workplace settings. He trained at Warwick University, is a member of the BACP and is a fully qualified clinical supervisor. He serves as an industry advisor to counselling degree and MSc programmes, helping to shape how the next generation of practitioners are trained.

He founded Snowford Grange in 2010 and has built it into an award-winning service trusted by 60+ schools, working personally and closely with headteachers, DSLs and safeguarding leads across all the schools he works with. He takes personal responsibility for the quality, governance and professional management of every school partnership, and continues to work directly with pupils and clients alongside leading the organisation.
